Marta Seretny is an anaesthetic registrar in Edinburgh. She is currently completing her Wellcome Trust funded PhD (through the Scottish Translational Medicine and Therapeutics Initiative STMTI) at the University of Edinburgh. Her project utilises functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to understand Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) in cancer patients. During her PhD she has also worked with Professor Irene Tracey and Dr Katie Warnaby at the University of Oxford analysing the effects of propofol on the brain using fMRI. Prior to her PhD Marta completed an MSc in Public Health Research at Edinburgh University, which gave her training in Epidemiology, Advanced Statistics, Research Ethics, and Clinical Trial Design. After completing her PhD she will go back to clinical training and hopes to in future pursue a joint clinical academic career pathway.
