Dr Michael Graham Serpell

Dr Michael Graham Serpell Michael Graham Serpell is a Consultant & Senior Lecturer at the University Dept of Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine at Glasgow University.

He leads Pain Research in the Clinical Trials Unit at the QEUH, which runs both acute and chronic pain studies. He has undertaken over 50 commercial studies, predominantly in the area of Neuropathic Pain.

Dr Serpell is Examiner (and Chair of Clinical Science group) for the Fellowship in Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA), and past Examiner for the FRCA.

Dr. Serpell served as Council Member of the British Pain Society 2006-2013, and was chair of the Research & Scientific Committee. He was Chairman of the Local Arrangements Committee for the IASP World Congress on Pain, held in Glasgow, 2008.

Dr Serpell has been Senior Series Editor of “Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine” since 2002. He was Block Editor for Pain for the RCA electronic Learning in Anaesthesia (eLA) project, which was awarded a gold medal by the government. He is an Associate Editor for the EJP, and grant reviewer for several major research charities. He has published 4 books, 15 chapters and over 50 original research papers.
