The Edinburgh Anaesthesia Festival has now existed for 32 years. It is well known locally and through out the world to the loyal delegates who attend year after year. What is less well known is the fact that the meeting is run by the Edinburgh Anaesthetics Research and Education Fund (EAREF).
The EAREF is a registered Scottish charity with the aim of supporting anaesthesia and related matters in South East Scotland. The trustees use the surplus funds from the meeting to fund local endeavours.
EAREF trustees award around £10,000 in grants each year. Projects funded include small research projects, bursaries to aid study for higher degrees and support for health care workers travelling to the developing countries to provide medical care and education.
The delegates of the Edinburgh Anaesthesia Festival continued support means that we can continue to support these types of work in the years to come. Thank you,
Dr John Wilson, EAREF Chairman
