Dr Robbie Lendrum

Dr Robbie Lendrum is a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He is also a consultant in pre-hospital trauma care with Bart’s Health NHS Trust and London’s Air Ambulance (LAA). He is interested in developing new resuscitation strategies for patients with severe haemorrhage and hypovolaemic cardiac arrest following major injury.

He led the implementation of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) at the Royal London Hospital and with LAA, which are the only organisations in the UK to offer this novel procedure. LAA performed the World’s first pre-hospital REBOA procedure in 2014.

He is a grant holder and UK clinical lead for the UK-REBOA study. He is responsible for the design and delivery of the implementation and training package at the participating centres. This Bayesian RCT, supported by a £1.1 million National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA) grant, commences in 2017.
