Jakob Stensballe, MD, PhD and consultant in anaesthesiology and transfusion medicine, employed part time at the department of Trauma Anaesthesia, and part time in the Blood Bank, at Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, Denmark. He has been a central part of changing the Blood Bank in Copenhagen from a provider to a partner in the management of bleeding patients back in 2004. Currently the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers on trauma, critical bleeding and viscoelastic assays, and primary investigator on several ongoing investigator-initiated trials and the iTACTIC trial. Participant in task forces on transfusion and bleeding both in Denmark, Scandinavia and Europe (European Society of Anaesthesiology).
